Derbyshire Doula Support

I offer, grounded, relaxed birth and postnatal doula support in Derby and parts of Derbyshire (anywhere within 45 mins of Toton Nottingham.)
Whether you’re planning a home birth, preparing for an induction or caesarean, exploring VBAC/HBAC, or simply wanting more continuity and comfort throughout the process, my role is to walk beside you with responsive support that adapts to your individual needs.
I support all kinds of families and birth preferences, creating space for you to feel informed, listened to, and more connected to your own intuition, throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
My Approach
My approach is grounded, flexible, and always led by your individual needs. I don’t believe there is one 'right' way to move through pregnancy or birth, so rather than arriving with a fixed agenda, I focus on helping you feel informed, listened to, and confident in the decisions you make for yourself and your family.
Building a genuine relationship is a really important part of my work as a doula. During our antenatal sessions, we spend time getting to know one another (along with anyone else who may be supporting you during birth) so that when labour begins, I already feel like a familiar and reassuring presence within your birth space.
Alongside emotional and practical support, I also share evidence-based information, simple comfort techniques, and grounding tools that can help birth feel more manageable. I deeply value both research and lived experience, creating space for your instincts, feelings, and intuition to be part of the conversation too.
And, of course, I’ll make sure you’re well fed and nourished along the way.

Birth Support in Derbyshire
I regularly work alongside midwives across the local maternity trusts, supporting families at Derby Royal and Chesterfield hospitals, as well as at home. Unlike Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire does not currently have a dedicated Home Birth team, which can sometimes mean families need a little more continuity, reassurance, and advocacy when planning to birth at home or make decisions that sit outside standard pathways. Supporting people in navigating those conversations calmly and confidently is a really important part of my role.
When the doula–midwife relationship is working well, we can form a strong and collaborative team around a family, each bringing a different but complementary skillset. As a doula, I don’t provide any clinical care, but instead focus on emotional, physical, practical, and informational support, while midwives care for any medical needs that arise.
At times, additional clarity or advocacy may also be helpful. In these moments, I can help facilitate conversations, ensure my clients feel heard and informed, and support them in making decisions that feel aligned with their needs and values, while maintaining calm and respectful communication throughout.
When midwives and doulas are able to work well together, it can create real birth magic for the families we support.
