Twelve Moons Doula
Full spectrum doula support through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood
Birth and Postnatal Doula Support
It's totally normal to feel a mix of emotions about birth... excitement, uncertainty, and everything in between. Having someone you know and trust in your corner, can make a real difference to how you feel throughout your whole journey.
As your doula, I offer responsive, experienced support through pregnancy, birth, and the early days, listening, sharing information, and helping you feel more confident navigating your birth, whatever it looks like.

I offer doula support across Nottinghamshire and parts of Derbyshire, working alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of postpartum. My role is to walk beside you, offering steady reassurance, evidence-based information, and support shaped around your individual needs.
I’m a total birth nerd at heart, and I genuinely love all kinds of birth.
I’ve had the privilege of supporting a wide range of experiences, from home births and HBACs to inductions, caesareans, and everything in between. I’m particularly passionate about supporting families planning a home birth after caesarean, or making decisions that sit outside standard guidelines.
When it comes to birth intervention, my priorities are clear: your autonomy, informed choice, and consent should always remain at the centre of your care. While interventions can sometimes be very much needed (or wanted), I believe families deserve time, information, and space to understand their options, explore the evidence behind recommendations, and make decisions that feel right for them.
Working independently means I’m not tied to specific policies or protocols, and can support you in a way that feels flexible, responsive, and free from agenda. I offer genuine continuity of care throughout our time together, helping you feel more comfortable, confident, and at ease as you navigate whatever twists and turns birth (or life) might bring.
Working Together

I came into this work after my own first birth completely changed the way I saw birth and then what started as personal fascination quickly turned into years of training, supporting families, and spending basically all of my of time immersed in the world of birth.
Supporting people through such a transformative and tender time is always a privilege and is something I never take for granted.
Pregnancy
Virtual support from booking
From the moment you book with me, I’m at the end of the phone for support—whether that’s answering questions, talking things through, or signposting you to helpful resources and local services.
Antenatal education
This is a core part of my support. As an antenatal educator, I can tailor our sessions around what matters most to you, helping you feel more prepared and informed as you approach birth. This usually includes making birth plans, discussion about your choices, learning about biomechanics and labour physiology and simply taking time to talk through anything you’re thinking or feeling about birth and the postnatal period.
Getting to know you and your support team
It’s really important to me that when I attend your birth, I’m arriving as a familiar, trusted presence. A big part of our antenatal time is spent getting to know each other, building trust, and making sure anyone who will be present at your birth feels comfortable, informed, and able to lean on me if they need to.
Birth
When it comes to birth, my support is gentle, steady, and responsive to what’s unfolding in the moment.
On call
I am on call for your birth from 10 days before your estimated due date. During this time I’m available 24/7 for virtual support, and will join you in person when you need me. I usually attend once labour is established, unless you’re planning a caesarean or need earlier support.
Advocacy
I’m a strong advocate for autonomy and informed choice in labour. My role is to help ensure you feel heard, respected, and supported in making decisions that feel right for you. I will never tell you what to do, but I can help you understand your options, slow things down when needed, and support you in navigating conversations in the birth space with confidence and clarity.
Comfort measures & biomechanics
Sometimes all that’s needed is a steady presence, a hand to hold, or a well-timed hip squeeze. Alongside this, I can offer practical comfort measures including massage, aromatherapy, and positioning suggestions to support labour progress where helpful. I also bring a small toolkit including items such as TENS units, birth combs, and other comfort tools.
Nourishment & encouragement
Labour is physically demanding, and staying nourished and hydrated can make a real difference. I’ll gently support you with this throughout—bringing homemade snacks tailored to your preferences and reminding you to eat and drink when needed. I’m also there for encouragement, reassurance, or quiet steady support whenever you need it.
Protecting the space & early bonding
The environment around you in labour matters. I help create and maintain a calm, private and safe-feeling space wherever you are. After birth, I remain quietly present to protect that space and support those first moments of bonding with your baby as a family.
Supporting your partner too
I’m not there to replace your partner, but to support them as well. Having a doula often allows partners to feel more present and confident, knowing someone is quietly holding the wider space so they can focus fully on you.
Postnatal
Virtual support
I offer six weeks of virtual postnatal support as standard, giving you ongoing access to reassurance, guidance, and a steady point of contact in those early weeks. This can include talking things through, basic feeding support, signposting to local services, and being a sounding board when things feel overwhelming or uncertain.
Postnatal visit
All of my packages include at least one in person postnatal visit. This might include debriefing your birth experience, talking through early newborn life, basic feeding support, and practical help around the house. I often bring a home-cooked meal, and can help with small tasks so you have more space to rest and settle.
My aim is for you to feel supported, held and not feeling like you are having to figure everything out on your own.
"Thank you for everything, but most of all, thank you for simply being there. Your presence was my power. You helped me feel safe, strong and capable. You'll forever hold a special place in my heart and my birth story." - Louise
Partner review:
"Amy is like a best friend that has experienced every different type of birth, basically the person you want in the corner! She is very knowledgeable about all the different scenarios, logistics, pain relief, movements, and will play the advocate in your decision making process, helping you see the bigger picture." - Jack

Within your wider birth team
I regularly work alongside midwives across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, supporting families in both hospital and home birth settings. I’m fortunate to work closely with the Nottinghamshire Home Birth midwifery team, who I absolutely love collaborating with. They offer continuity of care and a calm, balanced approach for families planning a home birth, and I’ve built a strong working relationship with them over recent years.
When the doula–midwife relationship is working well, we form an effective team around a family, each bringing a different but complementary role. As a doula, I don’t provide clinical care, but instead focus on emotional, physical, practical, and informational support, while midwives care for any medical needs that arise.
Occasionally, there may be moments where extra clarity or advocacy is helpful. In these situations, I can help facilitate conversations, ensure you feel heard and informed, and support you in making decisions that feel right for you, while maintaining calm and respectful communication within the birth space.
When midwives and doulas work well together, it can create real birth magic!
